Types of Turkish Citizenship Applications
Turkish Citizenship by Birth
Turkish citizenship by birth is regulated under Turkish Citizenship Law No. 5901.
- A child born to a Turkish mother or a Turkish father acquires Turkish citizenship by birth, regardless of whether the child is born within or outside marriage.
- A child born to foreign parents who cannot acquire the citizenship of any country at birth may obtain Turkish citizenship, provided the legal requirements are met.
Turkish Citizenship by Adoption
A child under the age of 18 who is adopted by a Turkish citizen may acquire Turkish citizenship, provided there is no obstacle relating to national security or public order.
Turkish Citizenship by Marriage
Foreign nationals who have been married to a Turkish citizen for at least three years may apply for Turkish citizenship, provided they meet the legal requirements.
Turkish Citizenship through Migrant Status
Individuals who have been granted migrant status under the relevant legislation and who satisfy the required conditions may apply for Turkish citizenship.
Turkish Citizenship after Five Years of Residence and Work Permit
Foreign nationals who have legally resided in Türkiye and held a valid work permit continuously for at least five years may apply for Turkish citizenship, provided they meet the legal requirements.
Exceptional Turkish Citizenship
Foreign nationals who have made, or are expected to make, significant contributions to Türkiye in the fields of science, technology, economy, investment, sports, arts, or industry may be considered for Exceptional Turkish Citizenship.
Turkish Citizenship by Investment
Foreign investors may apply for Turkish citizenship by meeting at least one of the following investment requirements:
- Purchase real estate worth USD 400,000 or more, provided that the property is not sold for at least three years.
- Deposit USD 500,000 or more in a Turkish bank for at least three years.
- Make a fixed capital investment of USD 500,000 or more.
- Invest USD 500,000 or more in Turkish government bonds.
- Employ at least 50 Turkish citizens, based on the official employment records of the previous six months.

The application process may vary depending on the type of citizenship application. In general, it consists of the following stages:

- Biometric fingerprint registration
