What Is an Apostille?
An Apostille is an international document certification procedure that allows an official document issued in one country to be recognised and used in another country.
Apostille certification is applied between countries that are parties to the Hague Apostille Convention. Once an Apostille has been issued, documents can generally be used in other member countries without requiring additional consular legalisation.
Depending on the type of document and the authority where it will be submitted, notarisation, certified translation or additional authentication procedures may also be required.
Apostille Services in Türkiye
When documents issued in Türkiye are intended for use abroad, it is important to determine whether the document is eligible for an Apostille and which authority is responsible for certification.
Depending on the document, the following procedures may be required:

Using Foreign Documents in Türkiye
Different procedures may apply when birth certificates, marriage certificates, divorce documents, criminal record certificates, diplomas, transcripts, powers of attorney and other official documents issued abroad are intended for use in Türkiye.
If the document was issued in a country that is a party to the Hague Apostille Convention, an Apostille may be used. In other cases, consular legalisation, embassy certification or other document authentication procedures may be required.
