Overstaying Visa or Violating Residence/Work Permit in Türkiye: Entry Ban Rules

According to the implementation dated 09.06.2022, re-entry rights for foreigners who violate visa, residence, or work permit conditions in Türkiye are regulated as follows:

1. No Entry Ban Applies in the Following Cases

  • Foreigners who overstay their legal right in Türkiye for up to 3 months (excluding 3 months),
    voluntarily report to border gates to leave Türkiye before their situation is identified by the competent authorities,
    and pay the applicable administrative fine.
  • Foreigners who overstay their legal right in Türkiye for up to 3 months (excluding 3 months),
    report to border gates to exit within the period granted following a deportation decision,
    provided that the administrative fine is paid.
 
2. Entry Ban Applies Despite Voluntary Departure
 

Foreigners who overstay their legal right and leave Türkiye under the following conditions are subject to an entry ban ranging from 1 month to 5 years:

  • Foreigners who overstay their legal right for more than 3 months (including 3 months) and
    voluntarily report to border gates to leave Türkiye,
    provided that the administrative fine is paid.

Entry ban durations based on the length of overstay are as follows:

  • Overstay between 3 months and 6 months → 1 month entry ban
  • Overstay between 6 months and 1 year → 3 months entry ban
  • Overstay between 1 year and 2 years → 1 year entry ban
  • Overstay between 2 years and 3 years → 2 years entry ban
  • Overstay exceeding 3 years → 5 years entry ban
